Peavey V Type EXP NTB TR, Limited Edition, Vandenberg. The shop closed in the late 90s and the premises remained empty for years.
Somebody eventually took over the premises only to find it was full of new stock, that was unsold. A change of circumstances dictates that i must reduce my substantial guitar collection, so this is the next to go.
The guitar is almost mint. I say almost because it has a few very, very minor marks to the laquer surface. They are so slight i can't photograph them. You have to really look closely to see them.
Also, some of the anodizing has thinned on the trem unit saddles. I'm guessing this occurred because of'test drives' in the shop, and the guitar wasn't wiped down afterwards. Many years of storage and human excretion isn't ideal. The guitar is in really stunning collectors condition. I've barely played the guitar, because i wanted to keep it in'timewarp' condition. I've played this guitar for perhaps 30 minutes in total. So it really is virtually unplayed. Now for the good bits. This guitar is simply stunning!!
Real abalone inlays bound the body and neck, real mother of pearl inlay marks the 12th fret. The abalone colours really'pop' in sunlight. The paint is a beautiful rich gloss black colour. It has the lovely grenade pin Grover tuning machine heads. The guitar was professionally cleaned and upgraded when i first got it. The frets were polished, the fretboard cleaned using premium Crismson Guitars prodcuts. The stock pickups were replaced with a brand new pair of Seymour Duncan JB pickups.
(Note the Alumitones in the photo are NOT fitted to the guitar - I will change the photo when the weather allows me to photogrph the guitar outside). The volume pot was replaced with a Shadow killpot, Tone knob replaced with bare Knuckle pot, and the stock capacitor replaced with a Bare Knuckle oil and paper example.I wanted this to look similar to a'Jem' - lovely guitars, but not my thing, so i added custom vine stickers to the fret board. My plan was to properly inlay the fret board in the future.
This guitar plays and sounds amazingly well. The SD JBs and bare Knuckle electronics make this guitar a heavy metal monster. The guitar has a lovely, slender fast neck, ideal for shredding.
I've owned a USA Vandenberg, and though it was a lovely guitar, it was not as impressive as the V Type EXP, NTB TR. The V Type looks nicer, with the inlays, body and neck bindings, and i'm sorry to say, play better than the USA examples, which is why i've only ever owned one USA Vandy, but i've owned 6 V Types. Now nearly 17 years old, this really is a collectors guitar. Finally, i would appreciate it if people please refrain from contacting me to tell me that they feel this guitar is over-priced. So, no stupid offers please - you will be ignored.
The guitar will be very carefully packed and sent in a factory cardboard box. This guitar still has the factory plastic and inspection stickers on the back covers.
